For each format the studio works out what KDP pays you per sale in each marketplace.
- Print: the printing cost from the interior's page count and trim, the lowest price KDP accepts, and the 50% or 60% royalty at your price. Print prices are set before VAT; Amazon adds it at checkout.
- Ebooks: the 35% or 70% plan, the delivery cost from the file's size, and the tax already inside the price where the store adds it.
The figures follow KDP's help pages as of 12 October 2026. KDP changes them now and then, so check the final figure in KDP's own calculator before you publish.
What you need: a built interior for print prices, and the EPUB (or the manuscript) for ebooks.
What you get: the lowest price in each marketplace, and your royalty at the price you set.
Example: a 300-page paperback at 6 × 9 in costs $4.60 to print on Amazon.com, so the lowest price KDP accepts is $9.20, at 50%. At $12.99 it pays 60%, about $3.19 a copy.
