Versions and change log

Number each new version of your book, say what changed, and every edition's copyright page names it.

When you change a book that's already out (a corrected chapter, a new afterword, a fixed map), number the new version on the book's page: 1.1 after 1.0, or 2.0 for a big change. Say what changed in a line or two, and choose the editions it changed. A correction in the English text needn't touch the Polish translation.

On the copyright page: each edition's copyright page names the newest version that changed it ("Version 1.1", in the edition's language), when the edition uses the studio's copyright page. Its builds from before then say they're out of date, so you build them again before you upload. An edition that keeps its manuscript's own copyright page is listed too, so you can add the version there yourself.

What changed: each version keeps every edition's manuscript as it was when you numbered it. Beside each edition is a link to compare its text with the version before, word by word. The book's page also says when an edition's manuscript has changed since its newest version, in case a new one is due.

Numbers only go up. If you numbered one by mistake, take back the newest version; you can change what you wrote about any version at any time.
