Parallel translation

Your book in another language, translated line by line from your own manuscript, in stages you approve.

Open the edition in the language you want, choose Translation, and pick the edition to translate from. You see the price before anything starts, and every stage is paid from Studio credit when it starts.

A production translation goes in stages:

  1. The style bible: drafted from your text, for you to check: names, terms, register, typography.
  2. The voice chapters: the first chapters, translated and edited, for you to approve as the voice of the rest.
  3. The rest: translated, then checked line by line by an independent editor, harmonized so names and repeated lines read the same everywhere, and run through the automated checks, with a QA report.

A draft translation is one pass and the automated checks, for authors who'll edit it with their own editor.

Every line of the translation is the same line of your manuscript, so your styling (italics, small caps, passages in other languages) stays where it was. When you're happy, make the manuscript: it builds into the ebook and print interiors like any manuscript you upload.

If a stage stops, what was done is kept and the credit for the rest is given back; run it again and it carries on, charged only for what is left.

Amazon's free Kindle Translate beta translates some Kindle ebooks too: the Kindle Translate guide says what it covers and keeps, and when each makes sense.

On any plan, paid from Studio credit: each job shows its price before it runs.
