A free promotion works best when everything happens on the same days: the ebook free on Amazon, and the sites that tell readers about free books featuring it then. The planner keeps that plan for an edition's ebook. You schedule the free days in KDP and book the sites yourself; the planner checks the plan and says what's due when.
- KDP Select. Enter the day the ebook's enrollment began. KDP counts in 90-day periods from it, and in each one your ebook can be free for up to 5 days, all at once or a few at a time. Unused days don't carry over, and a period with free days can't also have a Kindle Countdown Deal. While enrolled, the ebook must be sold only on Amazon.
- Free days. Plan each run of free days. The planner checks KDP's rules: not on a period's first day, not past its end (best not on its last day either), 5 days at most a period, and scheduled in KDP at least a day before.
- Promo sites. A starter list of sites that feature free ebooks, with what each takes, what it charges and how far ahead to book, from the site's own pages; each shows the day we checked it and links the pages. Prices change: check each site before you book. Where a site gives no lead time, the reminder to book it uses our suggestion. Track each booking's status and cost, or add a site of your own.
- Results. Log each day's free downloads, sales after and rank, to see which sites worked.
