The Audiobook tab gathers what you or your narrator need to record this edition and send it to the audiobook stores. The studio doesn't record or upload anything: you do, or the narrator you hire.
- Scripts: a text file for each file to record, in the book's order, each starting with its heading as it's read. The stores ask for one chapter a file, with the opening and closing credits in files of their own; the credits are written for you in the edition's language, with the narrator you name in the edition's details. Words in italics are between asterisks, a scene break is marked [pause], and anything else in square brackets, such as a picture or a table, is for the narrator and isn't read out. The title page, the copyright page, the contents and the notes aren't read.
- How long: each file's length at a narrator's usual pace. ACX takes files of up to 120 minutes, so a longer chapter is marked: record it in two parts.
- Names to say right: the names and terms from your story bible that the text has, a translation's names from its style bible and glossary, and words the text marks as another language, each with where it's first heard. Add how to say one as a detail called "Say it" on its story bible entry.
- Square cover: the stores want a square cover filling the whole square, with the title and author on it. The studio draws one at 3,000 by 3,000 pixels from your book's artwork, with the title and author you choose where to put, and saves it in your browser. ACX turns down a book cover with bars added to make it square, so it's drawn from the artwork rather than the finished cover.
- The stores: what ACX, Spotify for Authors, Google Play Books and KDP Virtual Voice take, who can use each and whether this edition fits, with where each rule comes from and when the studio last checked it.
