KDP prints its own barcode in a white box on the back cover for free. If you'd rather control it, the cover editor draws an EAN-13 from the format's ISBN, or places the barcode file your ISBN agency gave you. When you save the cover, the studio reads the barcode back and checks it matches the ISBN.
