Answer seven short questions: what you're publishing, how long the book is, its language, the languages you want it in, the formats, where you want to sell, and how the AI should translate. Each has a sensible default, so the answer appears at once and sharpens as you go. What you're publishing sets the formats, trim, paper and ISBNs books like it usually have; change any of them below.
The page shows the total to start (the plan or a Book Pass, each translation, and any ISBNs to buy), then a row for each edition, format and store: the price readers pay, the printing cost, your royalty per sale, and the copies that pay back that language's translation. Ebooks are counted at Apple Books, Kobo and Google Play too, and at the language's own stores where we know their terms. Prices start as suggestions; change any of them.
Everything comes from the studio's own data: page counts from our typesetting, KDP's printing costs and royalties, where each language sells, fixed book price laws and ISBN agencies. Amounts in your own currency use the European Central Bank's rates of the day. These are estimates for planning: KDP's own calculator has the final word.
Save the plan, and the studio sets up the book from it: an edition for the original and one for each translation, with the formats you chose. Nothing is translated or charged until you ask. The plan stays on the book's page. During the beta, visitors save it with their place on the waitlist, and their book is set up from it when they join.
