Fixed book prices in Slovenia: what self-publishers need to know

Slovenia's fixed book price law covers printed books and ebooks. Here is what it asks of you as the publisher, and what KDP asks.

The facts

The rule
You set one retail price, VAT included, and report it to the Slovenian Book Agency at least a day before the book goes on sale (its portal needs the book's CIP catalogue record). For six months every seller charges it to every reader in Slovenia. The only discounts: for a whole series or a paid pre-order, and up to 20% at book fairs and at events presenting the book. It covers books with an ISBN, ebooks included; imported books in other languages, and sales to public libraries, are left out.

What KDP asks
Where a fixed book price law applies, KDP asks you to set the same list price at every retailer, and to tell the authorities where the law requires it.
